I make podcasts and write a newsletter.

I got my start in storytelling after pursuing an academic career in political theory. I spent two years exploring the way governments assess big societal risks (like terrorism, climate change, and even asteroids hitting the earth). I loved being able to devote myself so completely to research, but realized along the way, I wanted to more directly reach people outside of academia.  

Since then, I've researched and reported stories for a best-selling book, NPR's Planet Money and The Indicator, Gimlet's Reply All, Slate's Hi-Phi Nation, CNN's Coronavirus: Fact Vs Fiction, Chasing Life with Sanjay Gupta, All There Is With Anderson Cooper, and The James Brown Mystery.  

 

Today I produce Hard Fork, the New York Times' tech podcast, where I do a lot of behind-the-scenes research, story sculpting, and antics to make the hosts laugh.

In my free time, I write a newsletter called Are You My Boyfriend? where I tell stories about dating, and occasionally interview men I've gone out with.
